  1. Dear Palmer Sensei and Mr. Silverman,
I just want to express my sincere thanks. My short visit to your dojo was lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed my practice with Mr. Silverman. It is always good to visit aikido dojo and make new friends. …Even better is when you go to visit a dojo and find friendly people practicing technically clean aikido. Mr. Silverman was a gracious host and your students were very polite and welcoming.

I will certainly stop in again next time I am in Asheville. I have a little sister-in-law who lives there. If you have any students who are interested in iaido, I would be happy to offer a special demonstration or class next time I come. And next time I come, I’ll be sure to bring a little gift: my book, Japanese Swords: Cultural Icons of a Nation (Tuttle, 2010). -For my new friends in Asheville.

If you are ever in North Georgia, please feel free to come visit me in Rome. I live and work at Darlington School, a college preparatory boarding school with just under 1000 students from over 40 countries. It is an amazing spot and I am looking into hosting Doran and Hayashi Sensei for a summer camp next year (if his health will permit). -Not many students of O-Sensei left.

    Wishing you the very best.

    Sincerely,
