The Asheville Aikikai is a non-profit corporation
founded in 1983 and is dedicated to the development of the "Aikido
Spirit" of harmony between all people. The practice of aikido
occurs not only on a physical plane but also should be carried
over into our daily lives and can be used to help us see our
way through difficult situations.
Our chief instructor, sensei Daniel Palmer shidoin
(certified senior instructor) of the USAF, began practicing aikido
in 1973 studying under Akira Tohei,
shihan, and is one of the founding members of the Midwest
Aikido Center. He is currently ranked as Godan (Fifth degree black
belt).
The dojo is affiliated with the United
States Aikido Federation and the Aikikai
Foundation.
